My goal is to enable reshaping the Earth’s surface using mobile robots – for a progressive and sustainable unification of humans and the environment.

Concept

Three process steps: loading, transporting, placing
  • swarms of autonomous mobile robots – humans take care of task definitions and operational edge cases
  • one small and simple type of machine that digs, transports and places soil
  • swarm intelligence with integrated strategy for efficient logistics

Result

Several robots working in a swarm seen from above
  • low energy consumption by effective use of mechanics, motion and process control
  • major economies of scale: many simple machines instead of few complex, manually operated machines
  • better overall economic efficiency – fulfilling tasks more quickly and cheaply

Impact areas

Intact environment with river, tree and wind turbines
  • Enabling sustainable transportation – e.g. creating the track beds for high-speed railway lines
  • Securing Europe’s energy independence through the construction of power lines
  • Precise, environmentally friendly mining of technology-supporting raw materials
  • Healing man-made environmental damage through working back, renaturation, and soil remediation
